We recognise that some patients find it difficult to get through on the phones and we have been working hard to implement new systems to make accessing the Practice much easier. We will soon be moving to a new way of making an urgent or routine appointment with your Doctor, Paramedic, or Physician Associate.
From the beginning of September instead of calling the Practice to book an appointment with your Doctor we are encouraging all patients to use the NHS app or our website to book an appointment online. All our routine and urgent (same day) Doctor appointments will be bookable online- thus bypassing the telephone system and associated queuing. New appointments will become available every day so this means you will get to see your clinician more quickly than the current system.
When all the urgent available appointments for the day have been used and you have an urgent medical issue you can still call the practice for signposting and an assessment will be offered if clinically indicated.
For those patients that do not have online access – you can continue to call reception in the same way as you currently do.
We are increasing our capacity of appointments to offer to our patients and are excited to welcome a new Doctor, a new Paramedic, and a new Clinical Pharmacist.
There will be 2 different types of appointments available each day – we would ask that you consider carefully what type of appointment you need for your medical condition.
- Emergency Same Day Appointment– this is for more urgent medical problems that cannot wait for a routine appointment.
- Routine Appointment – for problems that can wait or have been ongoing for some time. If you have more than one routine problem to discuss, please book a double appointment.
For appointments with the nursing team – please call reception so an appropriate appointment can be offered, some appointments for the nursing team are offered online such as blood tests and cervical smear so please look online for these.
We hope you will agree this is a significant improvement in providing timely access for our patients and we welcome any feedback about how you are finding the new service.
