The Barcroft Practice

The Barcroft Practice is located in the historic town of Amesbury close to the A303, just North of Salisbury.

We practice from purpose built central premises, which are easily accessible by wheelchair. The practice extends over an approximate five-mile radius (see map) and provides a full range of general medical services to all age groups. The Medical Centre is conveniently situated in the centre of Amesbury, with its own car park adjacent to the central car park and close to the bus station. The practice is part of the Wiltshire PCT.

The Medical Centre is open all day where a team of receptionists coordinate the appointments for the Doctors, Practice Nurses and Phlebotomists.

The Surgery is open from 8.00 am to 6.30 pm every weekday.

The reception team are available from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 6.30 pm every week day.

Urgent Appointment Requests

A recent review of the services we provide has highlighted the need to improve the system we currently have in place to deal with requests for urgent on the day appointments and queries.

It is our hope with this new system patients will be able to discuss their problems with a Doctor quicker, and will not have to wait indefinitely in a waiting room full of other sick people.

Repeat Prescription Requests

We ask that all prescription requests are received in writing, either by putting your request in the box at reception, posting it through our letter box if we are closed, posting it to us, faxing it or asking your usual chemist to deliver it.

We require 48 working hours notice to process prescription requests, which will be unaffected by this change.  Please remember to allow enough time for the chemist to dispense your medicines too.

The Barcroft Patient Survey 2008/9

The Doctors would like to thank all those patients who completed our patient questionnaire survey at the surgery at the end of 2008.

Teaching Practice

We are proud of our status as a 'Teaching Practice' which ensures we are helping provide a future stream of experienced GPs.
